    Οι Βρετανοί ερευνητές Dr. M.J. Hinton, Dr.A.S. Kaddour and Dr.P. D. Soden , εκλεκτικά προσκάλεσαν τους δημιουργούς των 12 καλύτερων μοντέλων πρόβλεψης της θραύσης σε σύνθετα υλικά (laminate fiber composite materials). Σκοπός ήταν η μια παγκόσμια άσκηση (World-Wide Failure Exercice) στην οποία συμμετείχαν οι 12 καλύτερες θεωρίες για την πρόβλεψη θραύσης (failure) σε σύνθετα υλικά (composite laminates) και την σύγκριση αυτών με πειραματικά δεδομένα.

    Ο Dr. Christos C. Chamis και ο Δρ. Πασχάλης Κ. Γκότσης (ερευνητική ομάδα της NASA Glenn (Lewis) Research Center) ήταν μία από τις 12 ομάδες που προσκάλεσαν οι Βρερτανοί να συμμετέχουν στην διεθνή άσκηση για την ακρίβεια των μοντέλων στην πρόβλεψη της θραύσης των σύνθετων υλικών (World-Wide Failure Exercice).

    To αντικείμενο της εργασίας είναι μοντελοποίηση της μηχανικής και της θραύσης λεπτότοιχων κελυφωτών κατασκευών που αποτελούνται από σύνθετα υλικά (fiber composite laminate materials). Η έρευνα έγινε με την χρήση των πεπερασμένων στοιχείων σε γλώσσα προγραμματιστού Fortran. Η προσομοίωση έγινε με τα προγράμματα Η/Υ της ΝΑSA τα: CODSTRAN και IPAC. To IPAC χρησιμοποιεί την θεωρία των πιθανοτήτων και χρησιμοποιεί ως παραμέτρους (design variables) τις μηχανικές ιδιότητες των ινών και του μέσου (matrix) καθώς και το ποσοστό των ινών στο μέσον (fiber volume ratio).

    To αντικείμενο της εργασίας είναι η βελτιστοποίηση (structural optimization) των διαφόρων χαρακτηριστικών (βάρος, κόστος, φυσική συχνότητα και θόρυβος) πτερυγίου στροβιλομηχανής το οποίο αποτελείται από σύνθετα υλικά (fiber composite laminate materials) και φορτίζεται συγχρόνως με μηχανικά, θερμικά και ακουστικά φορτία. Η έρευνα έγινε με την χρήση των πεπερασμένων στοιχείων σε γλώσσα προγραμματιστού Fortran. Η μοντελοποίηση έγινε με το πρόγραμμα Η/Υ CSTEM.

    To αντικείμενο της εργασίας είναι η ανάπτυξη ενός προγράμματος Η/Υ σε γλώσσα προγραμματισμού BASIC, για την απόψυξη βιομηχανικού προιόντος σχήματος, L το οποίο αποτελείται από σύνθετα υλικά fiber composite laminate materials. Σκοπός ήταν να προβλέψουμε τις τάσεις και τις παραμορφώσεις. Τα αποτελέσματα του μαθηματικού μοντέλου συγκρίθηκαν με τα διαθέσιμα πειραματικά δεδομένα (της αεροπορικής εταιρείας TRW) καισυμφωνούσαν. H εταιρεία TRW με υπεύθυνο τον Dr. John Goodman χρηματοδότησε το ερευνητικό πρόγραμμα στο οποίο ήμουν ο υπεύθυνος και δημιούργησα που το πρόγραμμα για τον Η/Υ σε γλώσσα προγραμματισμού BASIC.
