  • Specialized academic training. Diploma in Computer Engineering & Informatics and Ph.D. in Computer Science, with theoretical and research experience in the areas of Digital Signal and Image Processing and Pattern Recognition.

February 2002: Ph.D. from the Department of Informatics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Graduating with honors.
September 1997 – February 2002: Ph.D. candidate Department of Informatics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on: “Digital image protection techniques” under the supervision of Professor Ioannis Pitas.
October 1991 – July 1996: Studies in Computer Engineering and Informatics at the University of Patras. Dissertation entitled: "Recovering three-dimensional information from images" under the supervision of Professor George Moustakidis. Rating: 10.0 out of 10.0 (Excellent). Diploma Grade: 8.78 out of 10 (Excellent).
    Research Interests
    • Development of robust watermarking techniques based on image regions, aiming at copyright protection and authentication.
    • Performance analysis and comparison of watermarking methods based on chaotic sequences.
    • Design of optimal detectors for watermarking in image transform domains.
    • Study of scenarios for watermarking applications.
    • Development of facial feature extraction techniques with application to face recognition.
    • Development of color document content layout techniques.
    • Development of techniques for efficient digital image transmission over wireless networks.
    Professional Experience
    October 2005 - present: Service at the Department of Informatics & Communications, School of Technological Applications, T.E.I. of Serres, in the field of “Multimedia Systems”. The projects of the TEI of Serres Research Committee that I have been involved with are:
      • “Strengthening Informatics studies at the Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Serres” (as a member of the main research team)
      • “Archimedes I: Strengthening research groups in TEI” with subject of investigation “Color documents content outline” (as a member of the main research team)
      • “Archimedes I: Strengthening research groups in TEI” with subject of investigation “Development of advanced computational techniques for solving straight and inverse computational problems for the design and study of microwave device electromagnetic compatibility" (as Principal Investigator)
      • “Advanced Tele-education Services in TEI of Serres” (as a member of the main research team)
      September 2003 – October 2005: Research Associate at the Department of Informatics & Communications, Technological Applications School, T.E.I. of Serres.
      March 2002 – May 2003: Mandatory service in the Army Corps of Research and Informatics. Involvement with LAN network management based on Windows 2000 operating system and related user support. Installation and management of network devices (routers, switches).
      September 1996 – March 2002: Employment in Artificial Intelligence and Information Analysis lab at the Department of Informatics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as a research participant in Greek research projects and research projects funded by the European Union.
