Research

Publications:          Author of 31 scientific publications consisting of 8 journal papers, 21 conference papers and 2 book chapters. Also author of 11 course books for the students of the TEI of Serres and 1 course book for the TEI of Thessaloniki.

Citations:               More than 450 third party citations (from Scopus and ISI) excluding self-citations. This number corresponds to an older search and recording of citations. A recent search in Scopus only has shown 680 citations.

Res. Programs:      Participated as a coordinator and researcher in 15 Research Programs, consisting of 8 programs coordinated by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, 6 programs coordinated by the TEI of Serres and 1 program coordinated by the TEI of Kavala. He is currently the institutional coordinator of the TEI of Serres for the “Archimedes III” research framework. He has served as a Project Coordinator in one research program in the “Archimedes II” framework, under the subject “Automated Optimal Production of Course and Exam Timetables using Evolutionary Computation Methods” (2005-2007). He was also coordinator of the program entitled “Elaboration of the Institute’s Operational Plan for Life-long Education for the TEI of Serres - Computer Hardware Technologies and Operating Systems course”.

Reviews:               Participated in 37 reviews of scientific articles in journals and conferences like the IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Annals of Operations Research, Computers and Operations Research, etc.

Prog.Committees: Member of the Program Committees of the international conferences GECCO '99,  CEC '99, PPSN-VI, PPSN-VII, PPSN-VIII, FEA-2000 and FEA-2002.

Other:                   He has been a member of the Research Committee of EVONET (EVOlutionary computation NETwork of excellence). Also, he has worked in the Research & Technology Center of the Greek Army (KETES) for the development of an automated artillery observation station.

Teaching

At TEI of Serres:   Since 2002 he has prepared and taught the following courses, both at theoretical and lab level: Computer Architecture, Assembly Language (Intel 8088), Operating Systems, Unix Programming, Evolutionary Computation, Visual Programming, and Object Oriented Programming.

Dipl.thesis superv. He has supervised more than 46 Diploma Theses of graduating students at the TEI of Serres

At TEI of Thessaloniki:  From 1998 to 2002 he has worked as a full time teaching associate at the Dept. of Informatics and the Dept. of Automation of the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki, Greece. There he prepared and taught the following courses: Computer Programming (at 3 different levels-courses), Operating Systems – Unix.

Other:                   From 1985 to 1992 he has also taught courses for the National Union of Physicists, the North College Institute, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, and private schools.
